One of the most notable aspects of the Budweiser Clydesdales is their esteemed drivers and their talented skills of navigating the team of eight Clydesdales. On the West Coast Hitch, handler Zach Uding has spent this year progressing through the esteemed Budweiser Clydesdale Driving School.
Located in Merrimack, New Hampshire, the driving school annually selects two handlers to go through the four-month program. Zach began his program in April 2013. During the first two months of the program, Zach was instructed under Lester Nisley on driving sets of four, six and finally eight Clydesdales.
Zach was also educated on proper driving posture, how to hold and set lines, and how to fit and properly secure each harnessed horse to the wagon. When he returns to Merrimack in a few weeks, Zach will continue perfecting his skills at driving a team of eight Budweiser Clydesdales, as well as driving through more obstacles and performing more difficult maneuvers in both an open field and arena.
The West Coast Hitch wishes Zach the best of luck as he completes the Budweiser Clydesdale Driving School!
